Subscription Update Obituary

John R. Sepavich of Millbury, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family at the age of 86 on February 8, 2024, at UMass Hospital. Born on February 24, 1937, John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of service, passion, and love that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Carol A. (Dufresne) Sepavich; his daughters, Debra Agnew and her husband, Robert of Larkspur, CO, and Donna White and her husband, Alexander of Millbury; his granddaughter, Deidre Sepavich, and her husband, Tejal Patel, along with their son, Riven of Portsmouth, RI. He was predeceased by his stepsisters, Susan Hickey and Judith Booden.

Born in Worcester to Yvantas J. “John” Sepavich and Marion C. (Poole) Boyle, John answered the call of duty early in life, serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he dedicated 37 years of his life to serving the community as a firefighter for the City of Worcester, demonstrating courage and selflessness in the face of danger.

Beyond his professional life, John found joy in his passions. He was an avid golfer, finding solace and excitement on the green. His love for sports, especially baseball and football, knew no bounds, with a special place in his heart for the Red Sox and the Patriots. Watching games brought him immense joy and camaraderie.

In addition to his love for sports, John had a talent for cooking, turning simple ingredients into culinary delights that brought together family and friends.

John will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, daughters, granddaughter, great-grandson, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, passion, and love will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with his funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday, February 13th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 honoring John’s generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
