Subscription Update Obituary

John ‘Michael’ McNeaney, 64, of Stafford St., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Hartford Hospital, Hartford, CT, after a brief battle with cancer.

Michael leaves his father, John ‘Peter’ McNeaney of Charlton; his daughter, Melony McNeaney of California; his loving partner, Diane Hare of Charlton; his two brothers, Mark McNeaney and his wife Pam of Charlton and William McNeaney and his wife Kim of Charlton; his sister, Robin Farrar and her husband C.J. of Enosburg, VT; his favorite niece, Jessica, along with many other nieces and nephews; and many close friends.  He was born in Southbridge the son of Elaine R. (Benoit) McNeaney, who passed away on March 31, 2024.  He was also predeceased by his brother, Peter W. McNeaney in 1992.

Michael worked as a property maintenance manager for his father’s apartment complex, Countryside Village Apartments in Charlton for 29 years until his illness.  He was his father’s right hand man and his best friend.  Michael was a member of the Auburn Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus Council #11379 in Charlton.

Michael loved to ride his Harley Davidson with his friends and family and going on Poker Runs for great causes.  He loved the outdoors and being adventurous, skydiving with his daughter Melony or four wheeling in his side by side (especially when he flipped it with his nephew Joe).

Michael was a talented self-taught oil paint artist.  As a man of faith he enjoyed his early morning sunrise drives while praying his rosary.

He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need.

A funeral Mass for Michael will be held on Friday, March 7th, at 10:00am in St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd., Extension, Charlton.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, is directing arrangements.
