Subscription Update Obituary

     John Laurin, 93, a West Boylston resident for 63 years, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Sterling Village after a brief illness. He was born in Biella, Italy, the son of Secondo and Delcisa (Iori) Laurin before immigrating with his parents to Worcester at the age of three.

He leaves his loving wife of 69 years, Lena (Stranieri) Laurin; two daughters, J. Deborah Hengen of Juno Beach, FL and Della Lee Sullivan of Troy, MI; a sister, Carrie Stranieri of Worcester; beloved caretaker and friend, Sharon Forsberg DeCarolis of Worcester; four nieces; two nephews; and many grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by a son-in-law, Clifford F. Davis.

John graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1939 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater until he was honorably discharge in 1945. He was a union carpenter for many years and was a foreman at Swanson and Jenzen Construction Company retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Carpenters Local 107 in Worcester and the Worcester Homing Pigeon Club. He built two of his own homes and he enjoyed horses, boxing and wrestling.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 11 to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 noon in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
