Subscription Update Obituary

John A Mauro, Sr. 83 of Worcester passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, June 11, 2021.

John was born on October 3, 1937, in Worcester, Massachusetts and was preceded in death by his father Anthony Mauro and his mother Mary (Gaulin) Mauro. Mr. Mauro enlisted in United States Navy, where he honorably served his country.  John worked for many years for Heald Machine Co. a division of Cincinnati Milacron before retiring.  He also was the Resident Manager of Dillon Heights Apartments for over fifteen years.

John is survived by his son, John A. Mauro, Jr. and his wife Dana of Auburn; his daughter, Donna Windler and her husband Douglas of Holden; a sister, Sheila Kosiewski and her husband Alfred of Worcester; five grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Cassidy, Nicholas and Zachary; a great grandson, Joey Windler and his extended family, the Tretheway Family.  He was predeceased by his longtime companion Sandra Tretheway.

John was an avid New England Sports fan, enjoyed playing cards with his friends, and visits to the casino. For many years he was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 70 in Worcester as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.  The family would like to give special thanks to his friends Mary, Ron and John as well as the owners and staff of Dillon Heights for their kindness and friendship over the years.

A period of calling hours for John will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 am followed by his funeral service at 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.  Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation at www.ataxia.org/donate/.
