Joan L. (LaBombard) Downer, 80, of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Beaumont Nursing Home in Westborough. Her husband of 54 years, the late Donald R. Downer, predeceased her in 2015.

She leaves her children, Robert, Stephen, and Thomas Downer, all of Auburn, and Catherine Vandell and her partner Joseph Belloli, of Framingham; her grandchildren, Allison and Ashley Downer, and Shawn Vandell; her sister, Anita Chartier, of North Kingston, RI; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Joan was predeceased by her sisters, Doris D’Errico and Pauline Rubin; and their parents, George W. and Rosanna V. (Kenneway) Downer.

Born in Worcester, raised and education in Auburn, Joan was a graduate of Auburn High School. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren, completing crossword puzzles and Sudoku, and spending downtime at home. She was a faithful communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Auburn.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joan’s family between 5 – 7 PM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street N, Auburn, MA, followed by burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
