Joan A Wood 85, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 22, 2024.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Harold F Wood. She is survived by her three children Kenneth J. Wood and his wife Tracy (Tuttle) of Grafton, David H. Wood and his wife Nancy (Pepper) of Port Saint Lucie Florida, and Theresa A (Wood) Dwyer and her husband James of Show Low Arizona; Her brother Richard J. Wood and his wife Judith of Rutland, her sister-in-law Judith (Wood) Saarinen and her Significant other Joe Christman of Inverness Florida.; four grandchildren David H Wood II and his wife Chelsea (White) of Millbury, Penelope (Wood) Havard and her husband Chris of Webster, Chaz Strom and his wife Kelly of Sutton, and Hazel M (Wood) Scanlon and her husband Kyle of South Kingstown Rhode Island, four great grandchildren Hayden Clements, Octavia Havard both of Webster, Devon Wood of Millbury and Braydon Strom of Sutton. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan was born in Worcester on February 5, 1939 to the late Owen J and Rose M (Blanchard) Wood. She is preceded in death by her sisters Caroline (Wood) Cookson, Dorthy Wood, and Rosemary (Wood) Kruczynski, her brother Owen J Wood Jr her godson Micheal O Kruczynski and her long time significant other Robert W Lizotte.
Joan grew up in Worcester and lived in Millbury for over 40 years. She worked for New England Electric Company for 27 years from which she retired. After retiring she moved to to Sarasota Florida and recently spent the last few years in Arizona with her daughter. She was an avid golfer loving to play as much as possible, she enjoyed traveling and spending time when she could with her children and grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday September 4, 2024 at 1 pm in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton and a Memorial Service will be held at a future date.
