Jeannine T. (Fortier) Wetherhead, 87, of the Briarwood Community of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly at Saint Vincent Hospital on Thursday, May, 25, 2017. Born and raised in Worcester, she was the daughter of Irenee and Germaine (Blouin) Fortier.
Jeannine was a graduate of Commerce High School and soon began her career as an Executive Assistant. She was employed by the Hanover Insurance Group and Norton Company, retiring in 1991 after more than twenty five years of service.
She was filled with compassion and interest in others and was always there to hold or lend a hand to someone in need. On one such occasion, she rekindled a friendship with Sidney B. Wetherhead who would become the true love of her life. They were married and shared twenty-two wonderful years together until his passing in 2014. Upon moving to the Briarwood Community she quickly made many new friends with whom she enjoyed playing scrabble, watching movies and cheering on the New England Patriots.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two sons, Paul E. Larson and his wife, Debra of West Boylston and Donald A. Larson and his wife, Deborah of Rescue, CA; her three daughters, Andrea J. Fisher of Hudson, MA, Cynthia G. Grove and her husband, Peter of Reno, NV and Wendy L. Holt of Rutland; ten grandchildren, Daniel, Holly, Tiffany, Christopher, Eric, Erica, Lisa, Kyle, Brian, and Timothy; one great-grandson, Mack; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jeannine was predeceased by her husband, Sidney B. Wetherhead and her brother, Norman Fortier.
Family and friends are invited to visit with Jeannine’s family at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, on Saturday, June 24, from 12 – 1p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Boylston Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, 39 Worcester Road, West Boylston, MA 01583.
