Subscription Update Obituary

James D. Riopel, 58, of Worcester died Wednesday, September 29th at home with his loving mother by his side. He leaves his mother, Joyce R. (Provost) Riopel; his brothers, John Riopel and his wife, Heather of Paxton, Paul Riopel of Worcester, and Mark Riopel of Webster; his sisters, Diane Riopel of Fitchburg and Mary Thibeault and her husband, Dean of Oakham; and his niece and goddaughter, Brittany Riopel.

He was born in Worcester the son of the late William H. Riopel and attended South High School. James was a dedicated employee at Big Y Supermarkets for the past 10 years and previously worked at Beacon Auto where he enjoyed helping out daily. James took pride in caring for his mother, Joyce, always making sure she was okay and well taken care of.

James loved spending time with his family at holiday outings where he occasionally enjoyed a cigar with the guys, listening to music, watching the Patriots and playing video games especially WII bowling.

His funeral is Monday, October 4th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 929 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Best Buddies, 529 Main Street, Suite 202, Boston, MA 02129.
