Subscription Update Obituary

Irene L. (Belanger) Ostergard, 96, passed away on February 16, 2025 at the Care One of Millbury in Millbury. She was born in Worcester on May 30, 1927, on Memorial Day, to the late Albert and Leontine (Laforest) Belanger. She was the 9th child of 11 children.

She leaves a daughter Victoria Marvin and her husband Gary; a sister Alice Belanger; many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Irene was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Ostergard who died in 1973, her 6 brothers- Robert, Lionel, Gerald, Norman, Emil, and Edward Belanger; and her 3 sisters- Jeannette Elia, Dorothy Gish, and Bernadette Courchaine

After graduating from high school, Irene worked as a dietary aide at Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed spending time at the Worcester Senior Center

The family would like to thank the Care One of Millbury for their compassionate care of Irene.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. She will be buried next to her husband in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene’s memory may be made to DANA FARBER CANCER FOR KIDS
