Henry E. LaHair Jr. of Worcester, died on March 1, 2002 . He donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Program of University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 56 years, Kathleen (McKendrick), three sons, Brian J. of Worcester, Kevin B. of Holden and Shaun P. of Virginia. He also had three daughters, Collette P. Johnson of Oakham, Denise K. Blanchard of Holden, and Noreen M. Davieau of Worcester. He has ten grandchildren, Billy, Kirsten, Danielle, Brandon, Erin, Kerry,Mike, Kathleen, Patrice and Colleen. Also, three great grandchildren, Kayla, Trevor, and Sydney.
Henry was born in Worcester, son of Henry E. and Catherine (Conway) LaHair. He had three brothers, Robert, William, and Richard and four sisters, Matilda, Mary, Barbara and Christine.
He owned and operated United Baking Company and also worked at Table Talk Bakery. He worked at Paul Revere Insurance Co. and was a past member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks.
He liked to grow a garden and to bowl. He also liked to watch baseball and in his later years, he enjoyed going on cruises. Most of all, Henry liked food. He liked to prepare it as much as he enjoyed eating it. He especially liked going out for Chinese food, with cookouts a close second.
Henry was a wonderful “Pappa” to his grandchildren, He taught them how to cook and eat a lobster. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a good joke, especially at the the expense of one of his kids. He had a soft spot for dogs, especially his beloved Sarge, who is with him once again.
Henry was stubborn as a mule and extremely opionated. He hated to wait in line and couldn’t stand anyone to be late. When he had something to say, he didn’t hold back.
He was in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was very happy to share his photos and stories with anyone who would listen.
He was a wonderful man and he is missed.
