Subscription Update Obituary

     Grace J. (Caputo) Claprood, 87 of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 3, 2020 with her devoted sons gathered at her bedside.

Grace was born in Worcester, January 24, 1933 a daughter of Italian immigrants Pasquale and Josephine Caputo. Raised and educated in Worcester, on November 22, 1958 married the “Love of her Life” Edward J. Claprood, Sr. Together they spent the next 53 years devoted to each other raising their family until Edward passed away on December 8, 2011.

Grace is survived by her two devoted sons, Mark L. Claprood , Edward J. Claprood, Jr. his wife Lisa and their children, lifelong friends Lisa and Kimberly Diamond, a brother, Frank Caputo and sister in-law Mary of West Boylston; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A brother Anthony Caputo and three sisters, Anna Piccioli, Marie Richardson, and Lillie Palermo all predeceased him.

Grace worked as a seamstress for the Chess King Company and later David Clark, before accepting a position in food service for the City of Worcester before retiring.

Grace enjoy dancing with Edward specially to Polka music, watching Football , baseball , trips to the beaches of Cape Cod and visiting Casino’s to try her luck. She was also quick to make friends in any room and with whomever she met. Grace was a quiet mother who cherished her husband and sons, was so proud in their accomplishments and found so much enjoyment cooking for her family, especially during the holidays and special occasions.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, November 6, from 10:30 to 11:30 in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A prayer service will follow at 11:30 am. Burial next to her husband will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215
