Gertrude “Trudy” F. (Hughes) Jason, 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Quaboag on the Common Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, West Brookfield after an illness. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Thomas and Laura (Hinckley) Hughes and had had lived in Worcester and Webster before moving to Spencer in 2015.
Her loving husband of 47 years, Edward D. Jason, Jr., passed away in 1992. She leaves her daughter-in-law with whom she lived, Christine M. Jason of Spencer; her brother, Fred Hughes and his wife, Rita of Worcester; her granddaughters, Ashley and Rebecca Jason; and her great-granddaughter, Ava Lynne Boyle, who were the joys of her life; best friends, Wallace and Sandra Aulenback of Winter Haven, FL; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. She was predeceased by her daughter, Shirley Zukowski, in 2010; her son, Edward D. Jason, III, in 2012; four brothers, John, Harold, Robert and Joseph; and two sisters, Irene Brown and Mary Bergeron.
After graduating from High School, Trudy met the love of her life and married Edward at St. John’s Church in Worcester. She worked as a stitcher for many years at Bestrest Mattress in Worcester before retiring in 1997. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, trips to Nova Scotia and watching the Red Sox.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Trudy’s family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 15th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 16th in the funeral home. A committal service will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autism Resource Center of Central Massachusetts, 71 Sterling Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
