Subscription Update Obituary

     George L. Edwards Sr., 87, of Old West Brookfield Road, dairy farm owner-operator and World War II veteran, died Monday, Aug. 4, at home.

He leaves his wife of 51 years, Hannah (Horstman) Edwards; two sons, George L. Edwards Jr. of West Brookfield and Richard Edwards of Princeton; two daughters, Ellen Varnum of Brookfield and Janet Edwards of North Brookfield; a brother, Alfred Edwards of Lutz, Fla.; a sister, Claire Waite of Oakdale; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of Arthur and Helen (Ballard) Edwards, and lived in Worcester and Oakham before moving here in 1966. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Edwards was a dairy farmer for 51 years, and owned and operated Edwards Farm with his wife. He was a member of Sawyer Mathieu-Kearns American Legion Post 41 and the National Rifle Association.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Varnum Funeral Home Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield, is directing arrangements.
