George L. Burns Jr., 70, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 in his home after being stricken ill.

George is survived by his three children, Chris Burns of Vermont, Eric Sanders of Worcester and Yvonne Burns of Vermont; his mother, Betty (Sleeper) Madelle of Southbridge; a brother, Richard Burns of Worcester; a sister, Nancy Madelle of Charlton; 6 grandchildren, Joshua, Torrey, Hunter, Brandon, Taylor and Destiny; two great grandchildren and nephews and nieces.

Mr. Burns was born in Columbus, Ohio son of the late George Burns Sr. and is also predeceased by his step father, Clarence Madelle who died in 1991; his longtime companion of 29 years, Olive Sanders who died in 2017 and a sister, Jackie Thibeault who died in 2001. George moved to Worcester as a child and graduated from South High School and then proudly served in the United States Air National Guard.

George worked for 41 years at CGIT Systems Incorporated as an assembly Mechanic and field supervisor retiring in 2015. After he retired he was truly living the “retired life” by spending as much as time as possible fishing on his boat and taking rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycles.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 23 at 11:30 AM in Worcester County Memorial Park 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Memorial contributions in memory of George may be made to American Cancer Society 3 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
