Subscription Update Obituary

    George E. “Mac” McLaughlin, 80, of 18 Park Villa Ave., died Tuesday, April 25, in Worcester Medical Center.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Helen K. (Pianowski) McLaughlin; five children: Elaine and her husband, Dennis Rochefort of Worcester, Kevin McLaughlin of Cary, NC, Nancy and her husband, Alan Bianchini of Worcester, Neil McLaughlin of Worcester and Brian McLaughlin of Winthrop; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and his dog, Lady. He was born in Worcester, son of George E. and Eileen (Toohil) McLaughlin and graduated from South High School and attended Worcester State College.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a recipient of the purple heart and he received three battle stars at Anzio Beachhead.

George was a postal worker for the US Postal Service in Worcester, retiring several years ago. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a friend of Bill W. for 33 years. He was one of the original founders of the Schwartz Little League in Worcester.
