George “Jake” A. Howell, 93, died peacefully, Thursday August 29th, following a period of declining health. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 69 yrs, June M. (Madej) Howell.

He leaves a son, Stephen G. Howell and his wife Paula of Paxton; two daughters, Linda C. White and her husband Arthur III of Spencer, and Brenda A. McSherry and her partner Robert Zackary of Morrisville, VT; four grandchildren, Arthur F. White IV and his wife Michelle, Kimberly White, Crystal White, and Jacob Howell (who is also his godson) and his partner Florencia, and one great-granddaughter, Molly White. He also leaves a sister-in-law, Joyce Soderberg and her husband George of Venice, FL, as well as his nephew Thomas Faugno and his family of Loveland, OH.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA the son of George D. and Frances (Dufault) Howell. He graduated from David Prouty High School in 1948 and shortly after enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He was also a member of the St. Louis Cardinals Farm Team Organization as a pitcher during his younger years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Spencer and the Eastern Lake Ontario Salmon & Trout Association. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his wife June, son Stephen, and many friends. Together he and June spent many wonderful years enjoying their time in their second home on Lake Ontario in Fairhaven, NY. He was known for having a big heart, his wittiness and infectious sense of humor. More importantly, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be missed dearly.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Homestead Hall and Goddard House of Worcester, for their loving care provided over the past few years.

A Graveside service will be held privately at the request of the family. The J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, please take a kid fishing!!
