Subscription Update Obituary

George A. Angelis, 87, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011.

He leaves his wife of 64 years, Mary (Kotseas) Angelis; a son, Paul G. Angelis and his wife Karen of Charlton; a daughter, Barbara J. Mason of Worcester; a sister, Esther Martin of Worcester; three grandchildren, Jennifer Blum, Maria A. Kaperonis and Matthew P. Angelis and three great-grandchildren, Olivia Blum, Angela and George Kaperonis. He was born in Worcester. He was predeceased by his father, Apostle Angelis; his stepmother, Envangila Angelis; his birth mother; Helen (Scott) and his brother Elias Angelis. He graduated from North High School and Nichols Junior College and was a Navy Veteran of WWII serving on the USS Tangier.

George was an office manager for J. Baker Shoe Company for many years, prior to that he worked for Worcester Valve Company and Jamesbury Valve Company. He was also a professional photographer and in his later years he pursued his love of photography by opening his own studio.

He was a member of Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and enjoyed attending annual Navy reunions and spending time with his shipmates from the Tangier.

The Funeral Services are private. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St., Worcester, 01609. Arrangements are in the care of CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St.
