     Georg E. Iwaniuk, 71, of Auburn died Tuesday, March 17th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Donna R. (Rochefort) Iwaniuk; his children, Heidi M. Drake of Springfield, Eric Iwaniuk and his wife, Lori of Millbury, Lisa A. Iwaniuk and her significant other, Dan Valliere of Leominster and Kurt Iwaniuk and his wife, Heather of Holden; five grandchildren, Evan, Ryan, Kyle, Tori Iwaniuk and Parker Drake; a sister in law, Patricia Guenther and her sons, Brian Guenther and his wife, Stacy and Gary Guenther all of Colorado. He was predeceased by his brother, Helmut Guenther. He was born in Guernau, Poland the son of Valdemir and Anni (Krals) Iwaniuk. Georg graduated from Holden High School and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He worked at Norton Co. / St. Gobain for 30 years, starting out in the machine shop working his way up to an assistant engineer, retiring in 1998. Mr. Iwaniuk was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was a loving husband who cherished the time spent with his family especially his children. Georg enjoyed fishing with his youngest grandson, Parker. The family would like to thank the nurses from the Critical Care Unit at Memorial and the nurses from 3 Lakeside ICU at UMass for the exceptional care and compassion they provided. Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is directing arrangements.
