Gail J. (Bergstrom) Craig, a beloved wife, mother, mamma, sister, aunt, and friend to so many, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, while in her favorite paradise, Aruba. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband and best friend of 49 years, Daniel T. Craig and “her kids” daughter, Cheryl Reinhart, and her husband, Brian Reinhart, and their three children, Zeke, Cylus, and Aurora; son, Brian Craig, and partner, Kaitie Galofaro; as well as neighbors-turned-family, Ralph and Kim Capaldi and their children Ralph and Dante.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on October 18, 1953, and raised in Worcester, MA, Gail was the daughter of the late Reverend Charles V. and Lois J. Bergstrom, and sister of Cheryl A. Bergstrom (deceased), and Paul S. Bergstrom, his wife, Mary W. and their children, Jessie and Eric. She lived the last 32 years in Auburn, MA. Gail was loved by many because she, quite simply and truly, loved so many. She quietly, but intensely opened her heart to those around her, always seeking to make others more comfortable with a big smile, caring conversation, and a positive outlook. She was a remarkable friend and an even more remarkable mother, finding her biggest joys in the happiness of her children and grandchildren. She watched and celebrated their successes as if they were her own, always providing counsel, support, and passion as only Gail could. She will remain in the hearts of her family and those that had the pleasure of knowing her and her amazing heart, forever. It goes without saying that Gail’s family meant the world to her, especially her husband Dan. Set up by friends and married on September 17, 1972, they had an unimaginable dedication to one another. Dan and Gail filled their life together with love and travel. They enjoyed day trips, vacations, and car rides not just for the destination, but for the togetherness and adventure of the journey. They traveled to Aruba annually to bask in the sunshine and lifelong friendships of their timeshare; spent summers on Lake Winnisquam at Camp Rhino watching fireworks from the dock, cruising on the lake, and floating with their grandchildren; and took ferry rides to Martha’s Vineyard to visit their son for Jeep rides, beach days, sunsets, and cocktails. Gail loved many things but cooking was notoriously not one of them. In fact, if she could have, she would have replaced every meal with a Dunkin’s coffee and a pile of Hershey Kisses. This is not to say her cabinets weren’t always full with yellow Lays potato chips, juice boxes, Oreos, and Mountain Dew, waiting with an open door and open arms for her favorite visitors or sleepovers with her grandkids. Gail had quite the sweet tooth and loved to share one special dessert with the family during the holidays; her infamous rice pudding that was always eagerly anticipated.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gail’s family from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, February 13, at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, February 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St., Worcester. Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gail’s honor can be made to Why Me & Sherry’s House at www.whyme.org.
