Frederick K. Pierce, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus. Born and raised in Boston, he was a son of the late Leonard and Geraldine (Goldman) Pierce.

Fred earned his Associates Degree in Nursing from Becker College and went on to enjoy a long career in nursing. Fred cared for young patients at Boston Children’s Hospital for several years before taking a position at the UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, retiring in 2015 after 20 years of dedicated service. Fred was a faithful member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston and was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. In his spare time he could often be found at the West Boylston Senior Center where he had many friends or cheering on his beloved Red Sox. He was especially close to his nephews and nieces and cherished the time he spent with them.

He will be lovingly missed and remembered by his brother, James Pierce and his wife, Theresa of Randolph; his two sisters, Patricia Harvester of Plympton Mass and Irene Dunn of NJ; several nieces and nephews including Melissa, Lisa, Jimmy and Brian; and his beloved friend who was like a son to him, Michael W. Maldonado and his fiancé, Christine Swisher of West Boylston.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18 in the Miles Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd, Sterling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 19 at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston.
