Subscription Update Obituary

Frans H. Soderlund, 84, died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 25, 2021. He was born in Vaasa, Finland, the son of Elvi and Nestor Soderlund.

Frans was married to his first wife, Patricia Soderlund for 37 years until her passing. He was then married to Linda Salvadore Soderlund for 22 years, and welcomed her children, Wendy Snow and Bryan Salvadore, as well as Linda’s grandson, Jeffrey Snow.

Frans is also survived by his three loving children and their families: Deborah and John Miller and their son, Jason; David and Linda Soderlund and their children, Kirsten, Michael and Timothy; and Karl Soderlund and his three children, Isabelle, Samantha and Alexander; and his brother, Martin Soderlund and his wife, Shirley of Worcester.

Frans was a graduate of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute School of Industrial Management. Prior to that he had graduated from Worcester Junior College and North High School.

He was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served one term on the Church Council and coached the Boy’s Basketball team for ten years.

Frans worked at Wyman Gordon Co. for 40 years where he held various management positions in the Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Division. He was also a member of The Elks for 29 years. Frans loved spending time outdoors with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Frans was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be dearly remembered and missed.

Funeral services are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
