     Frank E. "Woody" Wood, Sr., 85 of South Yarmouth, formerly of Worcester, died peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. Woody's devoted wife Marie L. "Ree" (Canzano) Wood passed away on January 9, 2014, who he was married to for 57 years. He is survived by his son, Frank E. Wood, Jr. and his daughter-in-law, Trish of Arizona; his daughter, Gail Sakaloglou and his son-in-law George Sakaloglou of Worcester; 5 grandchildren and his crazy cat, Molly. He is predeceased by his daughter Tracy who died in infancy; his six brothers, James Wood, Benjamin Wood, Bernard Wood, Wallace Wood, Earl Wood, and Elias Wood; his two sisters, Evelyn (Wood) Walter and Ruth (Wood) Remick. Frank was born on Cape Cod where his grandmother was a sea captain, a son to his loving parents the late William H. and Ida L. (Chase) Wood. His family later moved to Hyde Park Boston, were he grew up and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Frank was an Army Veteran during the Korean War. He moved to Worcester after marrying the love of his life, and spent his career as a tool and dye maker at Worcester Pressed Steel, and later Donahue Industries in Shrewsbury, where he retired as a Foreman. While working at Donahue Industries, Woody and Marie owner and operated a gift shop in Auburn, MA called The Browse About. They returned to his Cape Cod roots and retired to South Yarmouth, Massachusetts in 2000 where they spent the remainder of their days. During these years "Woody" worked part time doing basement cleanouts, yard maintenance and landscaping, and assisting in estate Sales at Port Side Estates. His pastimes included breakfast at the Rt. 28 diner, afternoons with his friends at Dunkin Donuts, working on his car, and visiting the casino. Woody was a kind, loving, humorous and generous man who will be missed by all. Services for Frank will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2014 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 am in Saint Anne's Church,130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial next to his wife will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 1st from 9-10 am in the funeral home prior to his funeral mass.
