Subscription Update Obituary

Frances S. (Zelnia) Gray, 99, formerly of Oakham and Hubbardston, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 1,2024 in Alliance Health Nursing Home.

Frances was born in Oakham, MA the daughter of the late Walter and Philomena (Dogul) Zelnia and lived many years in Oakham and Hubbardston. She worked at Barre Wool Combing Co., Rodzik’s IGA in North Brookfield and the Old Mill Restaurant until she retired.

She leaves a son Alan Gray & his wife Janice of Gardner; a daughter Deborah Kane of Brookfield; 4 grandchildren Julie,Jennifer, Alison and Erin ; 6 great grandchildren Deena, Jacoby, Ella, Kennedy,Cole and Kaden; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harold Gray in 2007; 2 brothers Thomas and Joseph Zelnia; a sister Ethel Lavoie and a dear nephew James Zelnia.

She was born and raised on the family farm in Oakham and enjoyed gardening. She grew bountiful vegetables in her garden along with her immaculate flower beds. Frances was very proud of her Polish heritage.

The funeral for Frances will be held on Friday, July 12,2024 at 11:00AM in Pillsbury Funeral Home 96 S.Barre Rd. Barre. A calling hour will be held from 10-11AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
