Frances E. (Barter) Erdmann, 83, passed away peacefully at UMASS Memorial Hospital on Monday, January 11.

She was born in Burlington, VT daughter of Arthur and Dorothy (Lovejoy) Barter. Frances was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, James O. Erdmann who passed away in November of last year. She is survived by three children, Patricia Nielsen and her husband, Olav, April Bergstrom and Charles Pearce and his wife, Tammy; two brothers, Warren Barter of Auburn and John Barter and his wife, Dorothy of Auburn; a sister, Lee Brooks and her husband, Robert of Oxford; grandchildren; great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was a longtime member of the Auburn Elks. Fran enjoyed volunteering her time at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke. She was fond of crafts and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and quilting. She was an avid painter and also spent her time reading. She will be fondly remembered by all especially her God-daughter, Candice Aubuchont of Auburn.

Out of an abundance of caution during Covid-19 her funeral service will be private. A Graveside Service for Frances and her husband, James will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Soldiers Home, PO Box, 1338, Holyoke, MA 01041. Arrangements in the care of Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester
