Francella G. (Brown) Roache, 85, of Worcester passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Sunday, June 8th 2014 after a period of declining health.
Francella was born in Golden Grove, Saint Thomas, Jamaica, a daughter of the late Frederick and Gertrude (Edman) Brown. She grew up in Jamaica, and immigrated to Worcester in 1968 and in 1970, married Colin James Roache, enjoying the next 44 years happily together. They settled on Bell Hill section of Worcester to raise their family and have lived here ever since.
Francella is survived by her husband Colin; two devoted children, Roy Roach Sr, his wife Erica, Yvonne Hart all of Worcester; four grandchildren she adored, Roy Roach Jr, and Erika Roach, Andrew Jr. and Andre Hart; two great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both here in the US and in Jamaica.
Francella worked for many years as a team leader and Certified Nurse Assistant for the Spring Valley Nursing Center before retiring. Mrs. Roache warmly called Mother Roache was a member of John St. Baptist Church for over forty years. Deaconess Roache was a member of the faith fellowship missionary circle as well as a member of the virtuous women of the J.S.B.C. Deaconess Roache was a church leader in the prayer ministry at John St. Baptist Church and during her membership at the church she ushered for many years as well as dedicated much time to the soup kitchen.
At her church or any other, if someone needed a hand she was always there to help. She was a wonderful cook, being overly attentive to her children and especially her grandchildren. Her family at home and at church was most important in her life and was very proud to have them around her.
Funeral services for Francella will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at 11:00 am in the John Street Baptist Church, John St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A period of calling hours at the church will be held Tuesday from 10:00 am to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the John Street Baptist Church Ministries, John St Worcester. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
