Forrest W. ” Skip” Schofield,Jr.,83, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5,2025 at home.

He leaves behind his wife of 64 years Diana (Staples) Schofield; 2 daughters, Lynn Cotter of North Brookfield and  Kelly Knight & her husband Bob of Spencer; 2 grandsons, Scott Robinson Jr. & his wife Keri of North Carolina and Logan Lalonde of Spencer; 2 great grandsons Max and Milo Robinson; a brother Guy Schofield of Ct;  a sister Ellen Hammel of Florida; many nieces; nephews and his beloved cat Henry. He was predeceased by a brother Douglas “Jimmy” Schofield of Florida.

Skip was born in Worcester,MA. the son of the late Forrest W. Schofield Sr and Margaret C. (Mullen) Schofield and grew up in Auburn,MA. He lived there until he got married and joined the U.S. Army. After his discharge he and Diana moved to Spencer to raise there family. He was a machinist throughout his life working first at Reed and Prince of Worcester and then at Jamesbury Corp. where he worked for over 30 years.

Skip loved old cars. If he couldn’t sit on the fender it was too new. In his younger days he built a Model T Roadster from the frame up. He loved working in his yard and enjoyed time with the Old English Sheepdogs he owned over the years, Jake and J.J. One of his favorite things to do was going to tag sales and flea markets with his daughter Lynn. Skip was always willing to help anyone who needed a hand. But most of all he loved spending time and doing projects with his best friend, his wife, Diana.

He was a veteran, having served as a military police officer in the U.S. Army. He had many exciting stories about his years stationed in Germany. After his discharge he continued to serve his country in the Army National Guard and was a proud member of the American Legion.

A graveside service for Skip will be held on Monday, March 10,2025 at 1:00PM in Worcester County Memorial Park Richards Ave in Paxton,MA.
