Subscription Update Obituary

   Eugene F. Houlihan Jr., 84, of Worcester, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at his home, after an illness.

   He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth A. (Looney) Houlihan; a sister-in-law, Anne Looney of Framingham; a nephew, William P. Looney and his wife Andrea of Greenwich, Conn.; a niece, Sally Bogert, her husband Wayne, and their son Michael of Mansfield, N.J.; a niece, Jane Craft and her daughters Emily and Molly of Worcester; cousins Jane P. Gilrein of Worcester, Paul M. Gilrein of Shrewsbury, and Denise M. Carraher and Thomas Power, both of Worcester.

   Mr. Houlihan was born in Worcester, son of Eugene F. and Gertrude (Erickson) Houlihan. He attended Classical High School and Dartmouth College. He was an Army veteran of World War II with service in the European Theatre.

   He had a long career in the roofing applications industry. He was a sales representative for the Johns Manville Co. for many years. Later, he was treasurer of the B.H. Cutler Roofing Co. in Worcester and an executive for the Titan Roofing Co., before retiring.

   Mr. Houlihan enjoyed playing golf and was a member for many years at Holden Hills Country Club. He and his wife also traveled extensively across the United States and Europe.

   He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish.

   Calling hours are Friday, November 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 22 from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
