Subscription Update Obituary

Ernest E. Cote Jr, 77 passed away unexpectedly at his home on Mon. Feb. 21, 2022 after being stricken ill. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Beverly Ann (Jason) Cote, whom was always by his side.

He is also survived by his children, Christine Cote-Murphy and her husband Joseph of Northbridge, and Kathleen Cote of Charleston, W. VA; 5 grandchildren, Hannah Murphy, Daniel Santiago, Jillena Cote, Joshua Cote, and Haley Tomas; his sister, Beatrice Curll of Whitinsville; nephew Jesse Curll also of Whitinsville, Robert Curll of Millbury as well as several cousins, and many good friends. He was predeceased by his sister Doris Johnson.

Born in Worcester on October 30, 1943 he was the son of Ernest Sr. and Doris (Girouard) Cote. He grew up in Worcester and  attended St. Paul’s School and Commerce High School before proudly serving in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era, where he was stationed in Cuba.

Ernie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed visiting the beach, boating, fishing, camping, bird watching, cutting wood, and growing vegetables in his garden. His favorite moments were spent with family at his woodsy paradise (at home), grilling outdoors for his family. He was a loving and caring man who wouldn’t hesitate to help a friend or family member.

His funeral home service will be held on Thurs., Feb. 24, 2022 from Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 5-7 PM.
