Elliott Edson Smith, 80, of Worcester, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 04, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Francine (Titus) Smith of Worcester, daughter Christine Smith of Springfield, grandchildren Michael, Ashley, and Alicia Gilmore, great-grandchildren Hunter, Colton Elliott, Rhea Mae, and Mason, brother-in-law William Gildauskas of Worcester, sister-in-law Nancy Daviau of Oxford, and a close friend Jackie Adams of Worcester. He is predeceased by his parents Richard and Eva (Nichols) Smith and his brother Lawrence Smith.
Born in Boston in 1944, Elliott was a graduate of North High School. He owned a variety store on Millbury Street in Worcester, “Space 47”, for many years. He was also a frequent vendor at the Grafton Flea Market. Elliott was an avid reader. He loved his newspapers as well as the crossword puzzles in them. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his trips to Vermont with his wife Francine and brother-in-law William. Elliott will be remembered for his big heart and his wonderful sense of humor. He will forever be known as “The Great One”, a name lovingly bestowed upon him by his great-grandson Hunter.
A calling hour will be on held Monday, March 10, 2025, from 9:30AM to 10:30AM in DIRSA – MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., Worcester. A funeral with a Mass will be at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton.
