Eleanor “Ellie” J. Saro, 78, passed away on January 6, 2022, after several years of declining health. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Saro in 2001. Ellie was born March 20, 1943, in Worcester to Albanian immigrants Arthur and Vanjeli (Rafail) Treska.

She graduated from Worcester’s Commerce High School in 1961. She worked at Worcester County National Bank’s operations center, where she met her husband, Tom. They moved to West Boylston in 1971, where she remained for nearly 50 years. Ellie enjoyed sunbathing poolside at her home or on the beaches of Cape Cod, playing cards and bingo, solving crossword puzzles, singing karaoke and spending time with her family and friends. She was always quick with a joke or a funny story.

Ellie leaves her son, James, and his wife, MaryBeth, with whom she had resided in West Boylston, and their daughter, Breana. She also leaves her daughter, Pamela and her husband, Philip of Worcester and their sons, Philip, and Julian. She also leaves the following family: her sister Gloria and her husband, Norman Simo; her sister-in-law, Angelina Treska, married to Ellie’s late brother, George; her brother and sisters-in-law, Dimitri and Marion Tsialiamanis, Tom’s sister and several cousins, nieces and nephews, including Gloria’s daughter, Denise Simo-Latino who cared greatly for her.

Family and friends are invited to meet with Ellie’s family from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Fr. Mark Doku officiating. Burial will follow next to her husband, Thomas in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton.

Please observe all applicable Covid restrictions for your personal health and safety and those of others.

If you wish to remember Ellie, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury Street, Worcester 01609.

Arrangements are under the care of Philip G. Haddad, Jr., Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St. Holden.
