Elaine A. (Plante) Gendron, 87, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in the comfort of her home, with her son at her side holding her hand. Her loving husband of thirty-three years, Lloyd O. Gendron, pre-deceased her in March 2006.

Elaine is survived by her son, Michael West, with whom she lived; five grandchildren, Connor L. West, Riley J. West, Levi P. West, Alexander Stevens, and Samantha (Brad) Hammac; two great grandsons, West Hammac and David A. Gendron, who she helped raise. She is also survived by her son-in-law, William Stevens and her former daughter-in-law, Carrie A. (Umansky) West, and her sister-in-law, Lise Plante; nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Elaine endured the heartache of losing a child, when her daughter, Rosemarie Elaine Stevens died in June 2014. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Oliver and Paul Plante. Elaine was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Oliver N. and Ida M. (Prunier) Plante.

Elaine attended boarding school in Rhode Island, later entering a convent in Albany, NY. Shortly after entering the convent, she felt the desire to return to lay life and was given permission to leave the convent.

Elaine retired from the Worcester Public School system in December 2002, after working for many years as a Principal Clerk at Harrington Way Junior High, North High, and finally Worcester East Middle School. She was an accomplished seamstress and was a member of the VFW Post 6907 Ladies Auxiliary.

A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, October 12, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
