Edwin P. Wright, 87 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Auburn with his loving family by his side.
Edwin is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Gloria R. (Pingeton) Wright of Millbury; a son, Timothy E. Wright and his partner Denise LeFave of Millbury; two daughters, Diane M. Wright of Millbury and Patricia A. Wright and her partner Margaret Smith of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Adam P. and Alexander P. Wright both of Sutton; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Eubert T. Wright.
Edwin was born in Worcester, a son of the late Eubert and Sarah (Fortin) Wright and has lived here all his life. He graduated from Commerce High School and later received his Bachelors in Science and Business Administration from Holy Cross College. He enlisted in United States Army Air Corp serving his country during WWII in the Pacific Asian Theatre. Edwin worked for the New York and Worcester Express as a salesman for twenty years before he retired 1974. He was a member of St. Brigid’s Church, Millbury and a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He was also a member of the First Friday Men’s Club of Worcester and a Purple Knight of Holy Cross for fifty years. He enjoyed being outdoors.
The Wright Family would like to thank the Staff at the Life Care Center of Auburn for their outstanding care and compassionate given to Edwin in his time of need. Services for Edwin will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Brigid’s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Monday, July 9th from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Alzheimer’s Association , Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA. 02472.
