Edward J. Gouin, 79, of Worcester passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 31, 2020 of complications due to COVID-19 while at home. He is survived by his brother, Louis Gouin and his wife Sharon of Warren, and his sister Mary Jane Gustafson and her husband William of Worcester, his only surviving Uncle Edward “Sonny” Gouin of Uxbridge, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was born in Worcester and was predeceased by his parents Howard and Helen (Volungavitch) Gouin and his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Andrew Fryc and his nephew John D. Fryc.
He had a large family and was considered a father-figure; dedicating his time and love to help teach generations of his nieces and nephews varied sports, scouts, swimming, horseback, bowling, and his share of rides to the kids and their friends to fun places to enhance their childhood days. He was passionate about physical fitness, walking, movies, horseback riding and swimming. He was a huge fan of Holy Cross Football and Basketball, as well as the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. He enjoyed his free time at Nick’s Bar and the Miss Worcester Diner and valued his friends there. He also enjoyed seeing his friend Nicki Luparelli and her band perform.
Eddie started his working careerr at Big Nickel Supermarket then worked for over 35 years at St. Vincent Hospital in the Dietary Department, Choice Computer and Staples, both in Westborough for his last ten working years as a mail clerk, a job he thoroughly enjoyed and where he made many friends
The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 with a Mass at 10:30 am in St. John Church, 40 Temple St. A Calling hour will be on Thursday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
