Edward E. Robertson, 84, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. He was born and raised in Fitchburg, the son of Willis and Ethel (Forster) Robertson and moved to Rutland in 1965.
He leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra J. (Boulanger) Robertson; his daughter and pal, Jennifer Macomber and her husband, Christopher of Rutland; two sons, Mark A. Robertson and his wife, Shannon of Northbridge and Wayne E. Robertson of Fitchburg; four grandchildren, Stacia, David, Brady and Danica; two great-grandchildren, Kylie and Madison; a sister, Joan Melanson of North Leominster; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brothers, Willis, Raymond, Roland and Paul; and sisters, Evelyn, Phyllis, June and Carol and his long time Navy shipmate, Samuel Pennell of Delaware.
Edward was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving aboard the USS Benner (DDR 807). He was a millwright for 36 years at the former Crocker and Burbank Paper Company in Fitchburg, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Rutland American Legion Post 310. He enjoyed woodworking and camping at Peaceful Pines in Templeton and traveling to Barefoot Bay, Florida where he was a member of the Ringers Club. Edward loved to play horseshoes with his daughter, Jennifer, going fishing with his son, Mark and spending time with his grandchildren, extended family and his many friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The funeral for Edward will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, in the funeral home followed by a committal service at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
