     Earl J. Mayo 77 of 380 Pine St., died Saturday, Oct. 30 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a brief illness.He leaves his wife of 48 years, Doris E. (Pion) Mayo, a son Earl F. “Elmo” Mayo and a daughter Ellen M. wife of Norman C. MacLeod all of Leicester, two brothers Robert H. and his wife Leona A. Mayo of Leicester and Donald and his wife Rita Mayo of Charlton, three sisters Marjorie “Honey” wife of Ernest Charest of Largo, Fl., Shirley “Pat” wife of Alfred “Pete” Charest of Worcester and Elizabeth wife of Clifford Trombley of Charlton, two grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Mr. Mayo was an inventory control manager at Rexnord Co. in Worcester where he worked from 38 years, retiring in 1993. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Merchant Marines.He was a Fourth Degree member of the John Cardinal Wright Assembly in Auburn, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4528 in Leicester where he was Bingo manager for over 20 years.He was a member of St. Aloysius-St. Jude Parish and was a former longtime committeeman for the Leicester Boy Scouts and Explorers.Born in Worcester, he was the son of Joseph A. and Lillian (LaBombard) Mayo.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2 from the MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, Nov. 1 from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John Cardinal Wright Assembly, c/o Francis Papierski, 16 Highland St., Auburn, 01501.
