Donald C. Trottier, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Uxbridge, he was the son of the late Eugene and Beatrice Trottier.
Donald, fondly known as “Toots” to his childhood friends and family, had a happy childhood in Uxbridge, filled with great memories with family and his childhood friends. He loved to tell stories about all his childhood adventures.
He met Helen Thibeault early in life and the two were wed in 1969. She easily convinced him to move to her hometown of Holden, where they would reside for over 50-years and raised their two children. Donald worked as a machinist at Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville before working for over 20 years at Olson Manufacturing Co. in Holden.
Aside from his love for the Red Sox he was passionate about exercising and spending time with his family. He loved and cherished his time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed giving piggy back rides and junk food to his grandchildren. His family fondly remembers the family vacations to Walt Disney World, as well as the various cruises, trips to Amish country, and their memorable trips to Niagara Falls.
Donald is survived by his son, Scott J. Trottier and his wife, Deborah of Hubbardston; a daughter, Stacy A. Lacey and her husband, Walter of Rutland; five grandchildren; Ryan Trottier, Erin Trottier, Kara Trottier, Brody Lacey, Brielle Lacey; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Helen (Thibeault) Trottier, who passed in 2014; a grandson Justin Trottier, 2 brothers, Robert Trottier, Marshall Trottier; and 6 sisters, Theresa Bosma, Arlene Morrison, Jeanette Baker, Anita Richardson, Lucille Plante, and Simone Geer.
The family would like to thank everyone at Holden Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center, for the love, care, and friendship that the staff and residents gave him for the six months he resided there. They were family to him.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Donald’s family from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 16, at St. Patrick’s Church, 258 Main St., Rutland, with burial following at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
