Deondre O. Matthews, Sr., 27, of Worcester died Saturday, March 26, 2022. He leaves his mother, Shona M. Matthews, his father, Frederick Daniels Sr., a son, Deondre O. Matthews, Jr., his brother, Ameen R, Lacy Jr., his maternal grandmother, Margot L. Matthews, his uncles, Tremayne F. Matthews, Jared L. Matthews and his wife, Jamie, Robert L. Biggs and his wife, Kimberly, Michael A. Biggs and his wife, Maria, his aunts, Stacey Hall, Beryl Pettiford, Ann M. Biggs, Paulette G. Hawkes Robin White, and his fiancé, Briana Henriquez and the mother of his son, Tyzandra Berry. He also leaves his half brothers and sister, Derrick Graham, Jerome Graham, Frederick Daniels, Jr., Danielle McClean, and Damiere Daniels, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Henry G. Matthews, Jr., his paternal grandmother, Lizzie Mae Daniels; his uncles, John B. Matthews, Adam White, Jr.; and his aunts, Laura and Von Huggins.
Born in Worcester, Deondre attended Worcester Public Schools. He was a talented athlete, especially in basketball and baseball. At a young age, he gave his life to Christ. In church, he was a member of the Youth Ministry and the Youth Choir, he was also a part of the Boys Club of Worcester, the Worcester Youth Center, and Straight Ahead Ministries.
As a landscaper, he enjoyed working outside and hoped one day to own his own landscaping business. He was also a devout father, loving son, a protective big brother, a very caring grandson, and a comical nephew. Family always came first.
Deondre had a love for music; he was a drummer who never had a lesson, with a voice that rose above generations. Deondre had a big heart, an infectious smile, and was a gentle giant. He had compassion for those in need and would give his last to help others.
Deondre loved God, his family, and his friends.
His funeral is Friday, April 8th with a service at 10:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Thursday, April 7th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
