Subscription Update Obituary

Constantine L. “Dino” Mourginis, age 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Knollwood Nursing Center in Worcester. Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Louis and Angeline (Avanitis) Mourginis.

Raised in Boston, Dino graduated from Boston Latin School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and History from Boston College. His education continued to earn a Master’s Degree from Clark University, and a CAGS from Assumption College. He taught at the former Holden Junior High and Wachusett Regional High School before working most of his career as a Guidance Counselor and later became Guidance Director at Tahanto Regional High School, where he retired from in 1992. After retirement, he taught for several years at the YWCA helping many young women earn their GED degree.

Dino was a mason at Rufus Putnam Lodge and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Worcester. He enjoyed watching his Boston Sports Teams, especially the Red Sox.

Dino’s life was devoted to his family. He will be remembered for his loving, kind, patient way, and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Cynthia L. (Colebrook) Mourginis; two daughters, Lee Anne Spokis and her companion Reginald Padgett of Worcester, Christina Sullivan and her husband, Brian of Grafton; a son Steven Mourginis and his partner Dr. Nelson Goes of San Francisco; a granddaughter, Andrea Spokis, a step-grandson, Nicholas Spokis, his wife, Jodi; and four step-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brother, Nicholas Mourginis, his sister, Portia Rouvalis, and son-in-law Francis Spokis.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dino’s family from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, July 24, at the First Baptist Church, 111 Park Ave., Worcester, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Baptist Church in Worcester. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
