Christine V. (Imbimbo) Cipro, a long-time resident of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at nearly 104 years of age. She was predeceased by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Vito E. Cipro in January 1995.
Christine is survived by a son, Paul A. Cipro and his wife Virginia of Worcester; a daughter, Cheryl A. Cipro and her husband George Groth of Larchmont, NY; four grandsons, Jon Cipro, Timothy, Daniel, and Benjamin Groth; two great grandsons, William and Quinlan; many nieces and nephews. Christine endured the pain that no parent should experience at the death of her son, Gary Cipro in May 2015. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Domenico and Lucia (Tomasetta) Imbimbo, and has lived here most of her life. She graduated from Worcester’s High School of Commerce, where she “lettered” in basketball and field hockey and received numerous medals and honors for swimming.
Christine worked for the Department of Veterans Services at City Hall in Worcester, for over fifteen years, retiring as senior clerk in 1981. She was a member of Christ the King Parish, the church women’s guild, where she served as guild president, and was a long-time member and secretary. Christine was a wonderful cook and enjoyed playing cards and solving crossword puzzles.
Her Funeral Mass will be on Monday, August 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Interment services will be held privately.
There are no calling hours.
Christine’s family wishes to extend a “thank you” to the staff in the Harmony Unit at Notre Dame Long Term Care, for their heartfelt and exceptional care and comfort given to their mother and their family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Notre Dame Long Term Care, 559 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
The family has entrusted MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, of Worcester with her care.
