Charles “Whitey” Wage, 87, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2019 in UMASS Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Lillian (Dionne) Wage; three children, Steve Wage of Worcester, Ken Wage of Holden and Linda Wage of Holden and two grandchildren, Nick Wage and Elizabeth Wage. A sister, Doris J. Wage predeceased him. He was born in Chicago, IL son of Edmond and Dorothy (Devlin) Wage.
Chuck came from a long line of athletes and graduated from St. Leo’s Christian Brothers High School in Chicago, where he excelled in football and track. He was a founding member of the Fraternity of Boneheads, which would go on to become a national charitable fraternal organization. Charles spent 11 years in the U.S. Air Force as a flight mechanic traveling throughout the Caribbean, Greenland and the Pacific, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He then continued his career in the mechanical arts, retiring several years ago. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He was the former financial secretary and a member of Knights of Columbus Alhambra Council #88 and its golf league. Chuck also enjoyed coaching little league and loved to follow the athletic careers of his children and grandchildren.
Visiting Hours are Wednesday, March 13, from 4 to 7pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant St. Burial will be in Worcester, County Memorial Park, and Paxton.
