Charles “Coke” Mezzano, 90, of Jupiter, Florida formerly of Worcester passed away Thursday, November 14th 2013 at home with his devoted family by his side.
Coke was born in Worcester, a son of Italian immigrants Salvatore and Concetta (Musiello) Mezzano. He grew up in Worcester, joined the U.S. Marine Corp serving as a CPL in the South Pacific during World War II. He took part in several battles including the battle of Iwo Jima. Upon returning home from the War and excellent with his hands Coke began a Masonry Construction Business. He later accepted a position as an account representative for the Camosse Bros Company for over 20 years before retiring. Mary and Charles then moved to Florida where they have lived for many years.
Coke is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 55 years, Mary A. (Henderson) Mezzano. A brother, Joseph Mezzano, Sr. and a sister, Margaret DeVerdi both of Worcester; many nieces and nephews he loved, thought of as his own children and was devoted to; Many extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Charles was pre deceased by a brother Frank, and three sisters, Grace Nigro, Mary DiTerlizzi, and Eleanor Humes-Forleo; Charles loved to Golf; whether it was while he was working or in retirement years, Coke could be found on the Golf courses of Wachusett, and Pleasant Valley Country Clubs. He loved his family, concerned about them; Charles was always there when a member needed him. He loved family gatherings, the beaches, the sun and warmth of Florida and Golf.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, November 21st from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Friday, November 22nd from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 35 Fales St. Burial with Marine Military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Rosary Church, 35 Fales Street, Worcester, Ma.
