Carol E. Hazzard, 71, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 13, surrounded by her beloved family after a long illness.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Sonya N. Hazzard of Worcester; her two sisters, Gail Schuyler and her husband Nicholas of Worcester, and Lillian Williams and her husband Tony of Gardner; as well as her two cherished grandchildren, Malaysia Pettway and Alan L. Pettway, Jr.. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.

Born in Milford, Carol was the daughter of Eugene P. Hazzard and Marjorie E. (Ward) Wilson. She graduated from North High School and dedicated many years of her working life to the maintenance department at Clark University before retiring. A devoted member of the John Street Baptist Church, Carol found joy and fulfillment in her community.

Having lived for many years in Woodstock, CT, she eventually returned to Worcester, where she continued to spread love and support to her family. Carol had a passion for writing in her journal, watching movies, cooking, baking, and enjoying music and fashion. As a caregiver, she nurtured her family with affection, often taking pleasure in styling their hair throughout the years.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visiting hours on Thursday, March 20th, from 5:00 to 7:00PM, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30PM, at Callahan, Fay & Caswell Life Celebration Home, located at 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. A graveside service honoring her life will be held on Friday, March 21st, at 11:00 AM in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richard Avenue, Paxton. A repast will be held at the Tatnuck American Legion Post 288, 570 Mill Street, Worcester from 12:30-3:30 following the graveside service.
