Carl O. Sjolander Sr., 74, of 568 West Boylston St., died Friday in City Hospital where he was admitted April 3.  He was a machinist at Morgan Construction Co. 22 years before retiring in 1955.  He previously was associated with Norton Company for five years. 

    Born in Ostergotland, Sweden, he came to this country 62 years ago and lived in Hudson before moving to Worcester in 1930.  He was a member of Svea Gille and the Morgan Relief Association.  Mr. Sjolander and his wife, Ellen O. (Olson) Sjolander, observed their 50th wedding anniversary in April 1962.  Besides his widow he leaves three sons, Robert E. Sjolander of Holden and Richard R. and Carl O. Sjolander Jr. of Worcester; three daughters, Ruth E., wife of Carl E. Landgren of West Boylston, Clara A., wife of Raymond Oliver of Worcester and Doris E., wife of Clifford E. Landgren of Holden; a brother, Sigurd G. Sjolander of West Charleston, VT and seven grandchildren. 

    Funeral services will be at 2 pm Monday in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St.  Rev. P. T. Calvin Johnson will officiate.  Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  Calling hours at the funeral home are 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm today.
