Bruce A. Fagerquist, 70, beloved husband of Sharon A. (Maynard) Fagerquist, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus, Worcester. Born and raised in Worcester, Bruce was the son of Fred and Alice (Carlson) Fagerquist.
Bruce was in the first graduating class of Burncoat High School in 1966 and went on to further his education by attending Worcester Jr. College. Following college, he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1967 where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam era until his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1971. He then enjoyed a long career as a company repairman for Verizon, retiring in 1996, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. After his retirement, Bruce worked for Holden Auto and Fisher Auto Parts. He enjoyed coaching baseball when his son was young and could often be found fishing or golfing in his spare time. He was an avid New England Sports fan, often playing right along with them from the comfort of his chair. He loved going on car rides and stopping for lunch along the way. During the autumn months, he enjoyed leaf peeping in Vermont and New Hampshire along with Sharon. But first and foremost, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, Nolan and Katelyn.
Bruce will be lovingly missed and remembered by his wife of 46 years, Sharon; his son, Kevin A. Fagerquist and his wife, Kerriann of Holden; a sister, Elaine Jardine and her husband, James of West Boylston; two grandchildren, Nolan and Katelyn Fagerquist of Holden; two nieces, Jennifer and Kristin Jardine; his nephew, Michael Jardine; and several cousins.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at UMass Memorial Healthcare, Memorial Campus CCU for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Bruce and his family.
