Subscription Update Obituary

Betty M. (Webber) Penney, 81, of Bullard Street, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011 in UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John A. and Lottie (Martin) Webber, and was a 1947 graduate of South High School and a 1948 graduate of Salter Secretarial School.

She leaves her husband of 62 years, Norman J. Penney; a son, Norman J. Penney and his wife Linda of Auburn; two daughters, Christine E. Sherman and her husband Stephen of Rutland and Holly A. Baker and her husband Robert of Leicester; four grandchildren, Nelson and his wife Heather, Joel and his wife Kimberly, Eric and Cari; two great-grandchildren, Mia and Michael; and several nephews and nieces. A sister, Barbara Davis predeceased her.

Betty attended Greenville Baptist Church in Leicester. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, in the funeral home.

Private burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Greenville Baptist Church, Food Pantry, P.O. Box 396, Rochdale, MA 01542; or the American Diabetes Association , 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02201.
