Subscription Update Obituary

Benjamin A. Scappaticci, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at The Willows Westborough, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased in 2023 by his beloved wife of 67 years, Nancy L. (Cofske) Scappaticci.

Born and raised in Worcester, Benjamin was the cherished son of the late Antonio and Lucia (Notarangelo) Scappaticci. He attended Worcester Public Schools and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School. After marrying his one true love, Nancy, the couple made their home in Holden, where they lovingly raised their family.

Benjamin dedicated 30 years of his life to the Town of Holden as a General Foreman Lineman. He was a man of integrity, known for his unwavering work ethic and deep commitment to his community. Beyond his professional life, Benjamin had a passion for gardening and woodworking. He found great joy in tending to his garden, crafting woodworking projects, and helping his children with various “projects”, always eager to lend a hand and share his skills.

He leaves behind his beloved children; Brian A. Scappaticci and his wife, Debra of California, Anthony J. Scappaticci and his girlfriend, MaryAnn Puglisi of Methuen, and Sally A. Smalanskas and her husband, John of Holden. He is also survived by his dear sisters, Santina Russo of Worcester and Michelina Brouillette of Dennis, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Erica, Amanda, Anthony, Matthew, Brittany, Patrick, and Michael, and his adored great-grandchildren, William, Levi, and Augustine. Benjamin will be deeply missed by many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Philomena Smith and Mary Hatstat.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit Benjamin’s family on Thursday, August 22, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. George Catholic Church, 40 Brattle Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
