Barbara Louise “Grammy” Gervais (Russell) passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024, in Hollis, NH, at the age of 92. She was born on June 2, 1931, in Worcester, MA, to the late Elmer and Nettie Russell.
Barbara, known for her creativity and loving nature, dedicated her career to serving as a housekeeper for St. Stephen’s Parish in Worcester and as an art instructor at St. Stephen’s Elementary School. She was a long-time member of Sacred Heart – St. Catherine Of Sweden Parish; she was an active member of the choir and women’s guild.
In her free time, Barbara indulged in her passion for painting, knitting, singing her heart out at karaoke. Her selfless and inspiring demeanor touched the lives of many, always knowing the right words to say when someone needed comfort. Grammy was a glass half-full kind of gal who had a knack of always making something out of nothing and really enjoyed a good hot dog.
Barbara is survived by her loving children: Robert, Peter, Ronald and daughter-in-law Donna, Paul, and daughter and son-in-law Beverley and Dennis Poulin with whom she made her home. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert, her daughter Theresa Audette, daughter-in-law Donna, and her sister Beverley Hauver.
