Subscription Update Obituary

Barbara A. Pirani, 86, of Shrewsbury, previously of Holden, passed away on October 21, 2024. She is the loving wife of the late Albert R. Pirani with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage.

Barbara was born on April 7, 1938 in Worcester, the daughter of the late George and Beatrice (Gaucher) Marsh. Barbara worked as a school bus driver for 20 years and worked as a cashier at Spag’s Supply for several years. Barbara was a spiritual woman and instilled the value of faith within her family. She was an active member of St. George’s Church in Worcester, participating in counting offerings after mass and knitting prayer shawls for her community. She and her husband were also involved with the Chaffin’s Men’s Club, assisting in planning many town events. Above all else, Barbara adored her family and always supported her husband and children in their endeavors.

Barbara will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, William Pirani and his wife Eileen of Wading River, NY, Gayle Akillian and her husband William of Holden, and Gary Pirani and his wife Lissette of Holden; her grandchildren, Eric, Bryan, Sara, Steven, and Christopher; her sister Elizabeth Hanson and her husband Michael; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Albert R. Pirani, in 2019.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 29th at 10:00am in St. George Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. George Church, 40 Brattle Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
