Subscription Update Obituary

     Barbara A. Mercier, 77, passed away on Friday , March 15, 2019 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center- University Campus. She leaves 3 children- Michelle Mercier of Worcester, Joseph Mercier and his wife Kimberly of Leominster, and Nicole Mercier of Worcester; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by Gary K. Carville, with whom she was with for 40 years. They co-operated “Gazo’s” Bait Shop until they retired.

Barbara was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Ernest and Dolores (Whipple) LaChapelle. She was the middle child of 15 children. She leaves behind 8 sisters as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She enjoyed company and family games at the kitchen table. She loved dancing, crossword puzzles, listening to music and wrote poetry. Her rocking chair is where she watches her shows and spent time with God daily. Her incredible antipasto and her homemade dressing will be missed along with her contagious and unique wit.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 9-11 a.m. at Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
