Arvid J. “Arvie” Laderman, 92, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2016, with his loving wife and best friend Ruth by his side.

Arvid was born in Shrewsbury, the son of Anders and Helmi (Noponen) Laderman, and lived in Spencer most of his life. He was a graduate of David Prouty High School and Worcester Boys Trade, and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Arvid worked in heating/air conditioning and sheet metal businesses for over 50 years. He was a master mechanic and craftsman of many trades, who could build and repair anything he put his hand to. He was fond of motorcycle and car racing, had a special love of animals, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time relaxing with family and friends.

Arvid leaves his bride of 67 years, Ruth Ann (Sykes) Laderman; three generations of nieces and nephews, and such true friends that he considered them family. A brother, Leo Laderman and a sister, Ellen Olson, predeceased him.

Arvie will be greatly missed and remembered as an all-around great guy with a tender heart.

A private Celebration of Life for Arvid will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
